Taehoo Jung

 

She deals with the materiality of painting that expresses the dark emotional states of characters by means of bold brush strokes. In particular, the core aspect is realization of the ‘expressions’ of the characters by means of materiality of paints, which is a format that can only be realized in painting and cannot be recognized even if photographs or actual matters are viewed. In the recent works, spontaneous emotions when confronted with fateful situations as in the cases of the characters appearing in mythology, are visualized through more diversified and expanded materials, including animals and plants, than those of the previous works. This is realized through painting expressions that can impart powerful impressions by visually tracking the movements of the brush by those viewing the paintings in order to provide an abundance of room for various interpretations, rather than focusing on specific descriptions. Taehoo Jung was born in 1991, and graduated from Seoul National University in 2015 with bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in Painting and received MA degree in Fine Art from University of Southampton in England in 2017. The artist has been exhibiting works through the first solo exhibition, 『Uproarious lullaby』 in July 2018 and the second solo exhibition, 『DAL and Echoes』 in December 2018, as well as more than 10 group exhibitions.
